I’m really quite good at…
Maths
I suppose you’d want to hope so given I’m a numbers person professionally!
Organisation
A place for everything and everything in its place. A well-structured spreadsheet gives me the warm and fuzzies!
Empathy
I warm to people and connect with their stories. I know that the numbers are only a part of the picture.
Insight
Reading between the lines (or the sums in my case), understanding what that tells us and what opportunities that presents.
What led me here
Two of my interests as a child were organising and maths – yes, I fit the typical geek mould, on paper at least! So, when my mum taught me about budgeting – which combines organising AND maths – I was hooked. I had found my superpower. After I graduated with a degree in Agribusiness, I put my budgeting skills to good use and threw myself into one of my other passions – travel. I was able to take so many life-changing trips on a small budget – Turkey, South Africa, Vietnam – and still managed to invest in my first property at the age of 25.
Having grown up in rural Ohio (USA) and later Perth (WA), my initial goal was to help farmers by working as a rural consultant. But life took me in a different direction, and I left the prospect of a rural lifestyle behind for the big city lights of London. I thought that would maybe quiet my yearning for the urban living, but I never did get around to moving to the country.
I worked in the corporate finance world, it was high paced and high stakes. With over 15 years in financial accounting, management accounting and strategy analysis under my belt, I developed my skills in a range of industries, including not-for-profit, financial services, transport and packaged foods, in both Australia and the United Kingdom. But I never really felt like I fit into the blue-chip corporate mould. I was a bit of a square peg and felt that I had to hide my true self.
I’m a self-labelled ‘urban hippie’ and love helping others that are financially stuck. Eventually I decided I needed to do what I felt called to do and after a few ebbs and flows, The Flow Society came into being. I’ve never looked back.
I now live in Sydney’s Inner West with my husband, daughter, son and rescue pup. I love baking, weights and watch every DIY show on offer – obsessed! I indulge my other passions – maths, organising and helping people, every day through The Flow Society And for that I feel very grateful.

The important things
Family
I know the highs and lows of everyday life and parenting! Probably one of the reasons that I can empathise so much with the unique dynamics that small business owners face in trying to keep a balance.
Connection
Whilst I would describe myself as something of an introvert – I preferred to live alone than with housemates – I love making authentic connections with people. I’ll never say no to a coffee date!
Having an impact
I want to change people’s experience for the better; engaging with a client and knowing that I’ve helped fix a problem that has held them back or write them down makes my day.

Eliza takes the personal approach, I felt so comfortable sharing all the things about my business – the horrible state of my records and the shameful lack of insight I had when it came to my numbers! Eliza is so generous with her insight and provides immense value.
